2014 Turkey Project

Recommend a needy family for a chance to receive a free, complete traditional American, in-home, Thanksgiving Day meal.

Center Valley Baptist Church and Gravel Hill Baptist Church are working together to make the chance of having a complete traditional American Thanksgiving Day meal a reality for a few needy families in the Sardis, New Matamoras and Newport, Ohio communities.

Complete the form below to recommend a needy family you know that lives in the Ohio communities of Sardis 43946 or New Matamoras 45767 or Newport 45768. Random selections begin Monday, November 25th, for a minimum of 4 complete, ready to eat, Thanksgiving Day meals. At least one meal will be awarded to a needy family in the Sardis and Newport communities. At least two families will be awarded meals in the New Matamoras community (the primary service area of both churches overlap in this community). One meal feeds a family of 4-6 people.

The catch: Your recommendation gives us permission to inform you of ministry services, activities and events for CVBC and GHBC. That's it. You may opt-out of receiving our information at any time.

Want to sponsor a meal? You can help another needy family by sponsoring a meal for approximately $50. Click the graphic at the left to email us your contact information. You can select the community in which the meal(s) will be awarded.

Having trouble with the form on your mobile device?

What does the complete Thanksgiving Day meal include?

The complete traditional American Thanksgiving Day meal will include the following with substitutions only being available per stipulations of the providing vendor:

  • Roasted whole turkey, approximately 10-12 pounds

  • 2 lb Stuffing

  • 1 Dozen Rolls

  • 3 lbs Mashed potatoes

  • 1 lb Gravy

  • 1 lb Cranberry salad

  • 3 lb Choice of green beans or noodles

  • 1 Pumpkin pie

Please note:  the above list may change without notice due to availability of items at time of vendor preparation. Every effort will be made to make any substitutions known prior to delivery. All weights above are approximate.

Who is preparing the Thanksgiving Day meals?

Warren's IGA of Newport, Ohio was selected due to their excellent reputation for providing meals of this type; they are a familiar and trusted vendor in the local communities participating in this project. It is possible that other local vendors could participate before the close of the program.

Meals will be ready for pick up from the IGA on Wednesday, November 26th. For those without proper transportation, CVBC and/or GHBC will deliver the meals to the family address.
